- Your device must be compliant with your company’s EMM security requirements.
Step 2: Prepare your new device
- Set up your new fully managed device as per your IT admin’s instructions.
- Turn on backup on your new device.
- Your new device must have the same managed Google account as your old device, and be managed by the same EMM.
- Your device must be compliant with your company’s EMM security requirements.
Step 3: Transfer data
- On your new device, open Settings, select Backup or copy data, then Copy data using Android Switch.
- Follow the prompts to pair your devices and transfer your data.
Requirements for IT admins
To protect corporate data, transfer from and to a fully managed device is blocked by default. Use your EMM to enable backup services to allow for transfer.
You will also need to deploy managed Google accounts to your users. Your organization’s managed Google domain must be bound to an EMM.
